In short, what the app does on your PC and how to remove it.

Technical details
  • Installs for your user account only, without administrator rights, into %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\aetherly, with a shortcut on the desktop and in the Start menu; Aetherly starts right after installing.
  • Aetherly starts with Windows and stays in the notification area so files can reach you. Both are on by default and can be switched off in the app's settings.
  • The Explorer context menu gets the entry "Send with Aetherly" for files and folders.
  • Windows opens aetherly:// links (invites, notifications) with Aetherly.
  • The app checks for updates at start and every 5 hours from updates.aetherly-app.com, downloads them in the background and installs them when you quit. Every version is signed by DuyTec GmbH.
  • No services or drivers are installed.

How to remove Aetherly completely

  • Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Aetherly → Uninstall.
  • This removes the program, the app data in %APPDATA%\aetherly, the context-menu entry, the autostart entry and the update cache.
  • Files you received stay where they are (by default in your Downloads folder).
  • Your Aetherly account stays. You can delete it here: Delete account
